Web Crippling Behaviour of Cold-Formed High Strength Steel Unlipped Channel Beams

Cold-formed sections (CFS) fabricated using high strength steel have recently been utilised in construction due to their numerous advantages, such as higher load-to-weight ratio, flexibility of shape, and availability relatively long spans. High CFS channel can be used purlins joists structural systems; thus, they are vulnerable different buckling instabilities, including web crippling. Predicting crippling capacity the current design guidelines may insufficient empirical nature. This study, therefore, aims investigate unlipped under End-Two-Flange (ETF) loading conditions. Numerical simulations were carried out nonlinear finite element (FE) analysis. The developed models first validated against available experimental data then a base for conducting an extensive parametric study. ultimate obtained from study was assess accuracy equations standards those proposed relevant studies. assessment revealed that existing not suitable predicting ETF condition. Thus, modified equation proposed, following same technique standards, new Direct Strength Method (DSM) approach developed.
